PARTICIPANTS' IMPRESSIONS
(translated from Portuguese)
2nd Workshop on Traditional Chinese Medicine, China
November 11 - December 1, 2010 (21 days in China)
As an acupuncturist and an instructor of this millenary art with the Brazilian Association of Acupuncture, as well as
being enamored with the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, going to CHINA was a dream that I was able to
realize thanks to SBAEC (The Sino-Brazilian Academic Exchange Center) through the efforts of Kevin and Simone
de La Tour – who I consider excellent professionals and individuals. They made it possible for this dream of mine
and of my students to be manifest in the best possible manner, by the quality of everything from the cultural
programs and excursions to the technical visits and classes.

Our lives will never be the same after this experience. Words cannot express everything that I felt and that I feel, but
THANK YOU VERY MUCH will have to suffice. You (Kevin and Simone) can rest assured that you have made great
FRIENDS AND BROTHERS. You can count on me in the future.

A big hug (warmest regards),

Dr. Carlos Ruas Filho, Campo Grande – MS
• President of the Brazilian Society of Physiotherapists and Acupuncturists (SOBRAFISA) of the state of Mato
Grosso do Sul
• Member of the Board of Directors of SOBRAFISA at the national level
• Instructor with the Brazilian Association of Acupuncture
• Physiotherapist and acupuncturist

I never imagined that a trip to the other side of the planet could be realized in such a tranquil manner! The
organization of the documentation and the course, as well as the care taken with the hotels and cultural visits,
proved to me that it is still possible to establish a personal connection without losing professionalism.

I hope that one day I will be able to receive you [Kevin and Simone, presidents of SBAEC] in my home in the same
manner you received me there… in your home!

I wish you every success!

A big hug (warmest regards) and until next time!!!!

Carlos E. Campagnaro, TCM student, São Paulo – SP

I now consider my life before and after this trip to China. I can say with certainty that the horizons have been
broadened in all areas of my life. I would like to thank Kevin and Simone for their organization, and all of the
participants for their comprehension and participation. Upon entering into contact with this millenary wisdom and
culture, I am a little more aware of my profound ignorance. I seek to follow the counsel of master Laozi, who is
credited as having said: “Those who are aware of their ignorance reveal the most profound wisdom. Those who
ignore their ignorance live in the deepest illusion.”

Your brother,

Murilo Ferreira de Carvalho, homeopathic pharmacist and acupuncturist, Goiânia – GO

I would first like to thank both of you, Kevin and Simone, for the good work; not only for the good work that you
performed for our group, but for having treated us like members of your family, with tender loving care. I think none
of the participants have any complaint; everything went quite well!!

Thank you and a big hug (warmest regards) for the SBEAC team!!!

Maximiliano Eduardo Ferreira Santana, physiotherapist, Corumbá - MS

I would first like to thank God for another blessing achieved in my life. Secondly, I want to thank the two of you, Kevin
and Simone, who became special in our lives, providing us with a distinguished knowledge. I believe that nothing
happens by chance; you were angels placed in our lives to guide us, protect us and help us to overcome the
differences between the two cultures, which are not easy to deal with.

After enriching our knowledge I bring a differentiated energy to Brazil. We gained this energy through the
movements and flexibility of the body, as with Tai chi quan, which signifies longevity.

An exchange of energy is essential for our survival and is dependent upon the circulation of our blood. Qi is a ‘blood’
that nourishes our organs and viscera in order to keep us in harmony; it is this harmony that we needed and which
was gained in China through professionals who were qualified and very ethical when transmitting their knowledge
without any restrictions. It is worth pointing out that our cultures are different, but the workshop gave us a sense of
security and the conviction that we are able to do this work successfully. Nothing is out of line with what we have
learned here in Brazil and the workshop guaranteed our success as a result of our search for knowledge in the
cradle of acupuncture (China). IT IS WORTHWHILE TO INVEST IN DIFFERENT CULTURES. THIS IS WHAT MAKES
THE DIFFERENCE.

Sincerely,

Glaucione Carina, acupuncturist, Brasília - DF
